Where do Vita and 3DS Stand After TGS?

Source: GamerFeed

Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita were definitely the stars of the show at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. Despite what Nintendo and Sony may claim, the dedicated handhelds do definitely seem to be competing with each other for your hardcore portable gaming dollars. While they were going head to head at E3, the question of software for the PlayStation Vita still remained. The Nintendo 3DS definitely had a bit of a surprise up its sleeve for TGS this year, although it was not exactly a well received one. Now that we’ve got more insight into both of these handhelds, where do they stand in the light of each others’ presence?

Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Ever since its initial reveal in January, we’ve had a sneak peak at some of the Vita’s titles. E3 better solidified these releases, with more complete builds and a handful of new software. But that early on, it’s always hard to tell exactly what will and won’t be in the near future. Now, we have the launch list of titles in Japan that we can  start speculating on exactly what will be available on the platform at launch in Western regions as well. Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 are probably good bets, as well as a few other titles that were included on the release list. Just the addition of Uncharted: Golden Abyss, as long it turns out to be a quality release, already seemingly puts the platform in a better position against 3DS’ launch line-up.

Adirondack Nationals! and then some…

This weekend’s trip to the Adirondack Nationals produced some great PICS with a variety for vehicles. The streets in Lake George were lined with people looking to show off their ride. A detour to Saratoga Springs was equally rewarding. As the Wine & Food Festival and Ferrari Show started to come to and end for the day, we made a stop and took some shots.

San Francisco Police Now Admit Participating in Search for Lost iPhone 5

The San Francisco Police Department has changed its tune. It now says officers did come to the home of Sergio Calderón, looking for a missing iPhone 5, but that only Apple employees went inside, according to The SF Weekly.

After previously telling both Gizmodo and The SF Weekly that the San Francisco police had no record of being involved, SFPD spokesperson now tells The SF Weekly that “three or four” officers did in fact take part in a July search of Calderón’s home. However, these plainclothes officers apparently did not enter the premises.

Calderón confirmed to The SF Weekly that only two people entered his home, who were apparently Apple employees. However he was under the impression that these too were police officers. None of the people who came to his home identified themselves as Apple employees. As the Weekly reports:

“When they came to my house, they said they were SFPD,” Calderón said. “I thought they were SFPD. That’s why I let them in.” He said he would not have permitted the search if he had been aware the two people conducting it were not actually police officers.

So in essence, the SFPD came over, flashed badges, seemingly made threats, and then stood by while private citizens searched the Calderón home. Oh, and then they conveniently forgot about it.

Yet, it’s still not clear exactly who questioned Calderón and his family’s immigration status (they’re legal) or why. Nor are we clear on whether or not officers were there in an official capacity. Obviously, much in this story is still developing.

Steve Jobs steps down as CEO

Its and end of an era and the beginning of a new one. With Steve Jobs stepping down as CEO there seems to be a wave of emotions and rumors circulating the internet. The future of Apple and Steve Jobs’ health are the topics we are seeing. We cannot deny the technology that Apple turn out and the success they have found. I would like to believe that they will continue their success but only time will tell. One thing is true, it is going to be interesting to see what (if any) changes Apple might make and the decisions in the coming years.

I have the highest respect for their product and the overall quality even though I am not a member of the Apple & Mac cults. I am sure there are many overly dedicated Mac users sitting in silence today but you need to understand that this industry is a child of constant change. This is just another step. And also remember that it’s the people that make the company and not just one Man or Woman.

Are you a Verizon Wireless Droid user stuck in Spain or France?

A few days back, while checking messages on my HTC Eris I had noticed my Weather/Cock widget was showing me the weather and time for Gazost. For a moment I thought my settings had switched languages or something. Not thinking much of it, and because I don’t use the GPS Navigation on my phone all that much, I let it go figuring it would right itself over time. As of this morning, it hadn’t. Searching and scouring the message boards, I happened upon a few fixes that worked for some phones, but not mine. Here is one that is reported to have worked on the Incredible, Thunderbolt and now has worked on my Eris. This may or may not work on your phone, but it worked for me. Don’t shoot the messenger (or bother asking for further support/suggestions) if it doesn’t work for you. I’m not a real tech dude, and haven’t tested this on any other phone. I’m just someone who found a quick fix for my own situation and wanted to share.

No More WebOS!

From: Lifehacker
A little over a year after buying Palm, HP announced today that it will “discontinue operations for webOS devices, specifically the TouchPad and webOS phones.” It’s a sad day for everyone who was rooting for this mobile platform underdog—and especially webOS device owners.

Although HP’s press release says the company “will continue to explore options to optimize the value of webOS software going forward,” owners of the TouchPad and smartphones like the Pre 3 probably don’t have much to look forward to in terms of future development and support—at least from HP.

HP is also looking at spinning off its personal computing systems group, getting out of the hardware game altogether it seems. There’s not much else known except the brief announcement, but for more commentary and background you can check out Mat Honan’s post on Gizmodo. Optical Illusion

Two tiles, seemingly different colors from one angle are actually the same color in different lighting. I don’t get it at all. What’s the trickery here? Is it the shadowplay? The lights? The tiles? I don’t know
